Well, since you like the last one, here's another. The client saw another instrument I did with the sister set of this wood and wanted something similar. I won't make an exact copy of a commissioned instrument and she was fine with that. Just told me to go where I felt the wood lead me. A dream client to be sure. It's the first time I've used these strings as they've just been released as far as I'm aware. They are very high tension and produce a crystal clear harp like sound. I think that they would really suite a finger style player from a classical background. Anyway, the details are as follows Body - Blackheart Sassafras Top - Bearclaw Sitka Spruce Fret Board -Indian Rosewood 12" radius Bridge - Indian Rosewood Bindings Indian Rosewood Headstock Overlay - Indian Rosewood Neck - Mahogany with Carbon Fibre Truss Rod Finish - Mirotone 3220 over West Systems Tuners - Shurtlers Strings - D'Addario Titanium's Attachment: DSC_4741.jpg Attachment: DSC_4742.jpg Attachment: DSC_4746.jpg Attachment: DSC_4749.jpg Attachment: DSC_4747.jpg Attachment: DSC_4753.jpg Attachment: DSC_4755.jpg

Thanks for sharing that. It's beautiful. My brother-in-law has been talking about wanting a tenor. I guess I better get on that. Mike |

Hello Allen, That, my friend , is one outstanding looking uke. The workmanship looks really nice, at least from Reckveville . The headstock looks really nice and the treatment on the heal to body joint looks very cool. I'd love to see a close up of that. Thanks for posting that. It's good to see you back here. I think I might have a uke size set or two of bearclaw that will never use. Should I dig it up for you? I'll say hi to the rellies for ya mate. Cheers, Danny |

The heel block while a bit more difficult to do than your standard one, is certainly not out of the realm of anyone capable of building an instrument. Although it's pretty much one reserved to a Spanish heel design. Sorry Danny. The only shots I have of this instrument are ones that are posted here or the progress ones on my website. I dropped it off the the new owner yesterday. I don't often get to meet the people that commission instruments. It's all done by emails or phone conversations, so yesterday was quite a nice change of pace being able to see their reaction when they get to see their new instrument for the first time. While I never say no to an addition to the wood stash, I'm fearful that the cost of postage from PR to Cairns might be a bit frightful. Cheers everyone. |
