I need to flood some wood with Ca.I figured I would thickness sand close and then flood both sides of the back and then sand and commence building.For the sides ,which I also need to flood,should I bend first and then flood and sand? Or flood first sand and then bend.I'm not sure about the affects of bending after the wood has been flooded with ca.I will probably use Super Soft as well.Just not sure on the sides as to the order of procedures.Also does flooding with ca have any effect on sound.And Maybe I should seal with shellac prior to flooding.I know a lot of questions. Never tried bending with ca flooded , but my gut says bend first . question , why use ca instead of zpoxy or somthing similar . just curious |

A lot of folks will flood Brazilian before building with it to help prevent cracking at a later date.I`ve flooded Madagascan at the start of a build,that was super porous.I didn`t flood the sides,but wished I had.It would have been easier to pore fill later. James |

Super Soft will have no effect if you flood with CA first. |

I'm doing a set of zircote soon, and cause it's so 'cracky' It will be flooded PRIOR to bending. Did the back before bracing it too. I can't see why you would want to seal it with Shellac first. Isn't the idea to fill the porous wood? I would think the shellac would prevent that from happening, thus defeating the purpose. |

I'm sure you would have quite a mess if you tried to bend anything with shellac on it. Also, if shellac filled pores, we'd all be using it instead of ca, epoxy or other quick fill methods. Use the supersoft, bend, fill..... and post these q's in the main forum for better responses. |
