I am currently waiting on some Super Soft II I have ordered . After breaking the second side it became clear that a new route was needed . In the meantime I have done rough work on the top and back. There is still cleanup work to be done , however the basics are there.

I have been working on the fretboard and getting it ready to fret . I have encased the fretboard in Cocobolo, the 1/4" Strip running down the neck is a vertical piece . The 1/8" thick piece under the fretboard as well as the binding all glued in place will/ should make for a fairly stable neck. I HOPE

The Cocobolo had more sapwood in it than I would have liked , However I dont believe that it will be to much of a factor. I am waiting to try and get some Padauk Dots for the fret board inlays . I may have to make them , but am looking around first.

You should give a try to white glue, that dries clear... or even hide glue. Or maybe clean this glue before it get dry.

I'm refering to the top. We see the yellow dried glue all along the braces. Once dried, Titebond is really a mess to clean up nicely. Clean it with hot wet rag when it's still fresh, it will save you a lot of trouble.

Nice fret markers.. I didn't know if you would be able to see them. [:Y:]

Don't you dare glue that fretboard on there until you fix the fretboard... remove fret, dam groove, ac glue fill with dust, sand level, clear slot, new fret, no problem!

To be honest Chris , I thought about taking it out and filling with glur and ebony dust , sanding flat and leaving it out . It isnt a playable fret anyway . I havent decided , It is glued in , and needs a lil more touch up .

Tried my hand at my first binding this weekend . I am sure I made several mistakes , but we shall see when its sanded . I used TiteBond Orig. to glue the binding . Is there a better choice? After the binding was set I set the neck and angle . Its held in right now by a drywall screw . I have found they work very well for the smaller Mando's .

Lookin' good James.

I use the same glue although... .I use a lot of tape to hold the binding on as I go... and use the large rubber bands after complete.

I started sanding the binding and some of it came loose :o [headinwall] Sooooooooo I rerouted the edge and started over. This time using a thick CA and ALOT more clamping / rubberbands . Also I thinned my binding so that it was virtually flush and alot thinner .

We shall see if it sticks this time

Thanks. Good to know as I have a set I might use in the near future. Very nice taptone - this wood seems to have a huge bang for the buck factor, although the color is kind of crazy.
Mine doesn't feel particularly dense and I was planing 0.08 but I might go thinner now.
