When I wet sanded and buffed my latest effort on a Mando , I either wet sanded to deep or buffed to deep around the head stock on the sharp corners and exposed wood . SOOOO I guess I have to relacq. that area and try again .

What Tricks or sugestions do YOU have for keeping the headstock area from Sanding / Polishing to deep ?

Could it be that simple ?? laughing6-hehe So you wet sand the face and back of headstock and then just buff out ?

"Ignore them completely" is a mental trick. I wet sand my "top," not the "corner." I wet sand my "side" not the "corner." When I buff, I buff the top and stay off the edge, getting to say an 1/2- 1" inch away from the edge, "pert-near up-on," that way the feather of the buffer can buff the corner without me "trying" cuz I'm focused on the area that is 1/2 to an inch away.

Double pass your corners. If your spraying your top: I do a vertical pass across, across, across, across, across until the face is covered then I do a horizontal pass that splits the edge all the way around to "Frame it in." That way you "double your corner build" (each top coat is then the equivalent of 2 passes) so when it dries and you sand and buff there's that much more to help against burn throughs.

Another thing that helps is to not have sharp corners...! I round off my corners, even if just a little bit.
