Im building a solid body in the Gibson vein. All mahogany, 2 humbuckers, etc. The biggest difference is that it's a neck thru, so it's constructed more like a Firebird, just a different shape.

I want to put a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge position and a TV Jones TV Classic pickup in the neck spot. I can find the resistance specs (8ish for the Duncan, 4ish for the Jones), but i'm not sure how that translates to the actual loudness of the output. Is the Duncan going to be a ton louder creating an unusable mismatch?

Thanks

Going to be a strange set for sure. Resistance is only part of the story when it comes to output, the magnetic field will have a large impact on it as well. Actual pick up heights and pole heights can be used to balance out output between even some of the most mismatched sets..... Curious what wheelhouse of tone this instrument will be used in?

It’s gonna be a rock n roller, to be sure, but I’m putting a Bigsby on it, so I think it would be nice to be able to get some of that gutsy ‘tron twang at times. I know the neck spot will be a compromise , but I don’t want to give up the PAF vibe in the Bridge position.

If this project were presented at my bench I think I may recommend a Seth Lover for the PAF.....Not quite as hottish as a PG so it will likely blend better if you ever use both P-ups together.

Good point about the Seths. They are sweet pickups. Actually, now I'm leaning toward a Classic Plus/Supertron combo (both TV Jones).
