Anyone work with a vendor they like for making custom pickguards? Someone to whom I can send a dxf file or similar? Suggestions? |

Just a thought. I needed a custom TRC for a project. I laid it out on cad, printed a page off and taped it to a piece of plywood. Shaped the plywood to the paper and removed the paper. Screwed the pattern to a larger piece of plywood. Then did a rough cut on the pg material, and double face taped it on the plywood. I chucked up a 45 degree follower bit in the drill press. Then slowly ran the plywood pattern around the bit. It was slower than a router, but I had much better control and wasn't afraid of loosing a digit. It came out pretty nice so I made another in case the engraver hosed the first one. Don't know how much a custom would cost, but this was faster and easier. |
