Hey guys, I'm brand new to this forum. I usually hang out over at mandolin cafe, but I'm working on an electric guitar so I thought it more appropriate to post here. I've got a scratch build 72 tele deluxe coming up. The client has already picked out some beautiful ribbon striped African Mahogany for the body, maple for the neck, and katolox for the fret board. He already bought a Gibson 57 classic for the neck, and a Gibson 57 classic plus for the bridge pickup with all the wiring and pots. I will be replacing one pot with a push pull pot to split coils for a clean sound. We're thinking hipshot locking tuners and angling the headstock slightly to lessen/eliminate the need for string trees. The hardware is gonna be black. Does anyone have a suggestion for a bridge/tailpiece? Pickguard? It will be fender scale with a bolt on neck. Any other suggestions about the build would be helpful. Thanx

No suggestions but a big welcome to the OLF to you!

PS: The ax sounds killer!

I've used four of the Schaller 3D bridges.
The saddles are low and work well with a Fender style non-angled neck.
I like this bridge because each saddle can be adjusted for intonation, height, and spread.

Most import bridges I have used have a string spread of 2". 2" is a bit narrow for me.
Whatever bridge you use, check the spread to see how it will line up to the fretboard width and pickup pole spacing.

Welcome and best of luck,
Dan

Another vote for this bridge - it's also top loading!

If you have a really nice piece of mahogany, perhaps a thin, clear pickguard?

Keep in mind that string spacing for Gibson humbuckers is different from standard Fender string spacing, so whatever bridge you get, make sure it'll work with the spacing at the bridge pickup.

How about no pickguard? It's not required. The neck pickup can be attached to one of Stew-Macs Tele Neck pickup rings.

Thanks for all the great ideas! Sorry for slow response I've been in the hospital.
