I was wondering, what would be the quickest way to build a guitar body ? I had a neck, and wanted to get playing quickly, instead of waiting a couple of months to complete a body. Well, again, I was left unsupervised and ruined some perfectly respectable wood. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFyw0588mbM |

How did you mount those tuners. I have been trying to design a travel-guitar that can be put in an overhead bin on an airplane. Bob |

Those are just zither pins. I drilled the holes with a drill press. They require a wrench to tune. One warning: the bottom two pins (for the low B and F#) got loose. I had to fill the holes with a dowel and redrill. They seem fine now. Maybe plywood is not the best wood for zither pins. But the goal was to try to find the quickest way to make a working headless body, so that was a success. Are you THE uncle Bob ? All of my headless tuner creations are variations of the "Uncle Bob" wing nut tuners. I owe him a big thank you. Also: I have often tried to build stuff that fit in either an overhead, or a 22" suitcase. The keys are 1) a headless tuner solution, 2) keep the scale length down to 25" or less 3) a removable (bolt on) neck helps. Let me know if I can help. |
