I admit that I'm not an electric guitar guy, but this is getting embarrassing. This is as basic a wiring job as exists, and some how I've screwed it up. When I turn the volume knob all the way down, the volume only drops about 50% and it seems to act like a reverse tone knob bleeding off the bass. I swear I'm following the diagram exactly, can anyone see what I did wrong? Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1447015186.236472.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That doesn't look quite right. What diagram are you using? You need to connect the ground tab on the pots to your ground on the pot. Bend it up or connect with wire. The other wiring doesn't look right either. Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk |

dzsmith wrote: Seymour Duncan's site has wiring examples. Yes, thank you. That is where I got the diagram. As best as I can tell, I've followed it faithfully. I guess my question is can anyone see a mistake in the picture? I don't know if I'm having a brain fail, but it's not doing what I expect it to do. This is the diagram: As best as I can tell, live from the pickup goes to an outside lug on the volume pot. Ground from the pickup goes to the casing of the volume pot. A center lug is connected to the tip lug of the jack. The same live lug on the volume pot is connected to an outside lug of the tone knob. The center lug is connected to the cap, and the cap is attached to the tone pot casing. A lead connects the tone pot casing to the ring/outside lug on the jack. Am I reading this right? Thanks! If you look at the volume pot, the outer lug on the right is soldered to the back of the pot (this makes the ground connection). When the pot is fully rotated, the signal is grounded ( no volume). Hope this helps, Dan |
