OK, I am usually just no good with a soldering iron. Lots of cold solder joints, burned wires, you name it. NO GOOD. Which is why for the last 35 plus years I let my partner in crime handle the electronics. But right now he is buried in the restoration of Dr. Robert Moog's personal Moog, a vintage Oberheim, and a couple vintage MiniMoogs. No time for small potatos from me!

So, since I don't wish to scroll through a ton of misinformation, I thought I would ask ya'll. The project is a Tele kinda thing. The pickups are Bill Lawrence USA units (a Strat neck blade and a Tele bridge blade). Can anyone point me to the correct info to wire this thing up straight? Just the usual Tele pickup switch, volume and tone, with a new jack. Switchcraft parts already installed. Ground wire is present.

Don't need a full run down - a just a link or two that won't waste my time will be fine.

My tips on soldering:
1- use a 25 watt iron.
2- heat up the terminal and wire, or the 2 wires.
3-touch the solder where the 3 points meet, at the tip of the soldering iron.
4-if it don't shine, heat it up and apply more solder.
5- i like silver solder.
Wiring diagrams are all over the net.

Don't let anything move until the solder has cooled. That's usually the cause of #4 above, which is an indication of a "cold joint".

I don't have an appropriate iron at the moment. I need to get one so this would be as good an excuse as any. Weller guns are great for destroying sensitive electronics. If you can get a diagram and give me a little time to get a good Weller 51 in, I have a roll of (shhh!) Lead solder. If you're in a hurry, I have a few contacts from the old Avionics shop that would probably do it for a small fee.

Or we could use it for a demo at a luthiers and players get together that I have planned as soon as it cools down a bit.
