I need to remove the neck on a Xiphos. Can anyone tell me if this a set neck, through neck or whatever? I have one on my bench that is broken at the 9th fret. It seams that the brother of a gal that had been dumped by the owner of this guitar put his knee in the middle of the neck and applied great pressure to the head stock and body. The result is about 20 inches of relief at the 9th fret. How do you go about removing and replacing this neck.

Sorry for the lack of pictures but my computer has quit communicating with my camera.

According to this, it's a neck through.

I have no idea how to attempt a repair.

Cecil - a good guitar repairman can probably glue the neck back together. I've done some jobs where the neck was in 3 pieces and the truss rod was taco'd. Won't be cheap, though....

Thanks for the help guys. I was afraid that it was a neck through, but wasn't certain.

The owner want's to convert it to a bolt on but I am not sure that there is enough space in front of the neck pickup for the pocket.

Since the truss rod is bent about 75 degrees I will start by removing the fingerboard and the bent rod and then I can see how it will go together and how much wood is missing.

Wish me luck,

cecil

Pictures, Cecil, if you can. We'd like to see how you tackle this repair. Good luck!
