I built a guitar with Lace Sensor Duallys, splitted them with miniswitches and used a TBX tone control. Everything works according to plan except the TBX. When I turn it up past the detent into treble it makes a pretty wicked hum. Any help or tips will be much appreciated. Cheers, Van |

When they are split, they are single coils. And single coils hum. |

It makes a high pitched hum regardless of whether they're split or in dual mode. |

Sounds like an earth problem. I fitted one to a 90s strat years ago and had a similar problem. That turned out to be a broken wire. Using a multimeter check for continuity between all your grounds and bridge ect. I'll bet one is of high resistance or broken/missing, the tbx pot shouldnt cause a problem itself, its just two pots in one that switch over at pos5. Double check your wiring against the diagram too. Is it a fender made tbx? |

Thanks for the photo and all the suggestions. Yes, it is a Fender TBX and yes, I will get busy with it this weekend. My soldering leaves much to be desired and my glob of ground wires soldered to the vol. pot are a mess. Maybe I'll pull them loose and do it again for the third time. Thanks again. |
