Hi! I would like to know how to do Blue Mist finish. Automotive paint maybe? Do I have to apply a base color like for example white? And then clear coats of gloss Due to not having airbrush tools, I will buy aerosol sprays cans. What brands do you recomend ? Like this: |

Mohawk Finishing makes an entire line of opaque tints used in lacquer. If you send those pics to your local dealer he'll be able to pick the tint....or tell you if he can't match it. He'll probably also be able to give you some details about the procedure. I shouldn't speak for all Mohawk dealers but my guy has been very helpful in the past with this kind of stuff. That looks like simple base coats of tinted lacquer and several coats of clear over the top. There's probably a sub coat of gray (neutral) primer under the color. |

Thank you. The only problem is that I am in Spain and Mohawk Finishing products are almost null. Spray like Krylon or House of Kolor work well? Also if I do the color base coat do I have to put clear be core the next coat for the final colour? |

Looks like a pearl with a fine metallic to me. You should be able to find a similar color from HOK. Seal the wood with an appropriate sealer, sand out at 600, spray color coats then clearcoat. |

Thanks for the answers. I also have questions about the primer. I've seen coloured ones, what primer do you recommend for mahogany ? White coloured one to apply blue colour coat later? |

You will need an appropriate sealer for wood rather than a primer made for metal as the very base coat. Look for a polyurethane based sanding sealer and that should be compatible with the HOK spray paint. I typically do not use a colored "primer" under my colors but rather go right over the sealer. 4-5 medium wet coats should give coverage with almost any color over a sealer. |
