I shot some coats of Behlen vinyl sealer today and it added a dark amber color.
I want the color at least on the top to be clear.
I poured some into a cup to see it and it was dark amber rather than milky clear. I had about 1/2 can left over from last year, so somehow it became discolored. The sealer came in a screw-top can, so I did not notice the color before spraying (lesson learned).
My dilemma is that I cannot seem to sand the stuff off - it immediately clogs 220 paper.
Do I need to wet-sand it off?
Is there a trick to removing it?
(I'm using it under Behlen nitro lacquer)

Norton 3x sandpaper sands finish better than any other paper I've ever used. That said, I would strip it with either a stripper or thinner if it was me.

if you just sprayed today then i wouldn't be surprised if it is gumming up the paper, no...? stick it in a car with the windows rolled up in that south texas sun and it should cure in no time

Take as much back off as you can with a rag and lacquer thinner or acetone. A quick sand should be all that's needed to bring it back to the white.

Another vote for stripping with acetone...and starting over.

And maybe next time you spray it consider following up in an hour with one or two coats of lacquer topcoat...in case you HAVE to let it dry before shooting all the topcoats. Asking the manufacturer if that's OK is prudent...but avoiding having to sand a dry coat of vinyl is good if you can.
