Post subject:  Best suppliers of north american hardwoods

I've got a local guy up here in Maine where I get ash, maple, cherrywood, birch and walnut and am looking to branch out into some other north american hardwoods.

I'm looking for stuff like mesquite and desert ironwood. Anything that is native to north america and hard enough to be useful for fretboards and necks.

Would be great to find a good provider who sells and ships it in fingerboard blanks but I'm also interested in finding suppliers who sell by the board foot. Who do you use as a resource for such wood?

I have black locust which can be used for both and quartersawn sycamore which can be used for necks only as well as quartersawn basswood .

There is mesquite and Texas ebony at Houston Hardwoods and Clark's Hardwood in Houston , TX.
They are on the web.

Take a look at California Pistachio for your fretboards. About 2,000 on the Janka scale. A great replacement for Ebony. woodfromthewest.com
