i wanted the body and the neck to be mahogany ,if i were to put a strip of walnut down the middle of the neck would that effect the sound ,because of the pickups being mounted over the walnut ,instead of mahogany and would it help with the neck strength or would it just simply be for looks.

the walnut will add strength; mahogany is inherently pretty flimsy wood....as far as tone, there are lots of folks who believe material has little influence on the tone of a solidbody guitar. i'm one of em.
