This project has been on the back burner for a while , finally got time to get under way .

Neck Mahogany / Ebony -lined neck through 12" radius - Spent a few hours contouring the heel so access is easy all the way to the 24th "fret".

Body back - Lacewood Center layer - flamed maple ( 2nd grade/ close out not worthy of a top) Top - Birdseye Redwood Burl

Pickups - Bartolini Pre-amp 3 band Bartolini

The shape was inspired by Alembic

I had a slight change of plan , as I had a scrap set of Claro walnut from my last project that some large knots in it, I used it for the center layer .

Trimmed the walnut an burl for a rough fit , coming along nicely so far.

The Claro did make a nice top already ,.... this piece was too flawed for it.

A "nut to nut" comparison with my Jazz fretless. As you can see the new one has a petite body and superior access ( plus a 2 "fret" longer neck) .

It almost feels like a guitar , despite the full 34" scale.

The smaller "compressed" body was something I started a year ago at the request of several pro's who wanted a more comfortable reach .

control cavity cut out and routed for cover plate. I used the Stew mac template , worked well

Ahhh... you are very wise. I said potato as a test. You passed! Potatos are used for filming poor quality videos for YouTube, not for routing cavities in solid body guitars.

Just messing with you though. I like the wood choices and it is coming along nicely.
