A customer came in the shop to have a new pair of SD humbuckers installed in his guitar. He asked if the slik screened logos could be removed.

What would be the best way to accomplish this task and leave the tops of the bobbins looking new. Should I just polish the logo off with the buffer?

You can use Brasso or nevr-dull and light rubbing. I'm talking the stuff that comes in a can of wadding. Then buff it afterwards. I picked this tip up on the Telecaster forum years ago. Works great for restoring dull slightly scratched old pickups bobbins too....Mike

If you are very careful, you can do it with Q-tips and acetone. Did the Q-tip in the acetone, and just get it wet. With a rolling motion, make light passes over the letters to soften them and remove them. Use a new part of the Q-tip every time. Let the acetone dry from the area before touching it again. Go slow, and use a lot of Q-tips. Carefully buff when done.

Good luck.

Thanks guys,

I've got Never Dull, acetone and q-tips. I'll give it a shot and hopefully have another satisfied customer.
