Hey everyone, I just stumbled on this place [:Y:]

I'm about 2 weeks into my 1st ever build wow7-eyes

I decided on something not overly complex for a 1st time build and to be honest, I'm really enjoying the whole thing [:Y:]

Stage 1 was getting my plans printed off and then making my templates...

Image

I used a 75x75mm drum sander attachment on my bench drill to try and make the job easier...

Image

Image

The body and neck are South American Mahogany and it's going to have a flamed maple top...

Removing as much excess as possible and then sanding about smoothish...

Image

Image

Checking for square as I'm going...

Image

Body getting close, leaving about 2mm all the way around...

Image

That was all I could do on the body as I was waiting for the the maple cap.

Started some work on the neck. 1st job being the truss rod channel, this was 1 part which worried me somewhat...

1st was was to mark everything out...

Image

Then I mounted my router on the understand of my workbench, not ideal but in my opinion the best way to tackle this part...

Image

Image

I then measured everything and and screwed down to straight lengths of conti-board to act as a jig...

Image

3 passes and the 1st channel was completed...

Image

Another 3 passes and my 2nd part was completed...

Image

Then the last step...

Image

All in all, a nice big smile on my face bliss

Image

Filler strip then glued and sanded flush...

Image

Red Bull gives you wings... duh

Image

Then sanded flush and open book head stock marked out...

It was scrap from some shelving under my stairs, it's hideous stuff but does have it's uses.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone [:Y:]

Fretboard ready for binding...

Image

I started work on shaping the headstock and taking the excess off the neck...

Image

Image

Image

Once that was done I used the round over bit on the rear. As I was setting the router up, the bloody thing slipped and landed on the body leaving a dink! Crap!

Image

I used a wet towel and steam iron to fix it...

Image

Another quick blast of steam and it'll be gone altogether :)

Here's the round over, no tear out which is a huge bonus...
