Hi everybody,
Just finished my first build. I will upload some pictures soon.
I installed a pare of Bare Knuckle Mule humbuckers but they seem to pick up a lot of hum.
Any ideas on how to approach the problem ?

1. Make sure your control cavity is shielded and check that everything is properly grounded including the bridge.

2. If the sound is nasally, you're probably just out of phase, nonetheless, make sure your humbuckers are wired correctly. Try switching some wires around, it's possible you've accidentally grounded one of the two pickups in a single humbucker, which would account for the noise.

3. Do you have a frenzy of wires in there? A clean wiring job makes a difference in my experience.

4. Here's a tip I got from Ron Kirn. Twist the hot and ground wires that connect to your output jack all the way to whatever switch or pot they connect to. This is actually a very impressive improvement even with single coil pickups. Note that twisting any other wires doesn't really produce this effect, just the hot and ground to the output.

See if one or more of those doesn't solve your problem. If not, tell us more about what this hum sounds like.

Oh, one other thing, try swapping the hot and ground from the output. That's actually the most common mistake producing this result.

After connecting the pickup directly to the jack, turns out it's the pickup itself.
Talked with Bare Knuckle and I'm supposed to send them the pickups so they can recheck them.

Hmm. Maybe a wire broke somewhere inside the pickup. Hope they work it out for you.
