Anyone ever filed these slots a hair deeper on a tune o matic bridge? Was thinking about using a nut file. |

Don't use a nut file. Have you got any Die Sinker files, or needle files? Even a small half-round or very small rat tail file will work. |

I used a resonator tailpiece and I don't think it has quite enough angle to keep good tension on strings at the bridge. I'll post a pic in a minute. The strings pop out quite easily. Never happens on any of my other guitars no matter how hard I play. |

I would assume because the nut file is much more expensive. As to notching the tuneomatic, I do it all the time, especially if the fretboard radius and the radius of the bridge are different. They are meant to be notched, to adjust the bridge radius, or to adjust string spacing at the bridge, although many people don't bother. FWIW, I use a nut file for this. Smooth out with abrasive cord or sand paper. |

If you file the bridge slots, I would file it angled toward the tailpiece similar to filing a nut to minimize buzzing. Beautiful guitar! |
