I'm working on this new design which will use all the hardware from my curbow bass except the pickup. I've always liked the shape of this bass but felt it could definitely use improvement, so I based a drawing on it and made all the adjustments I felt necessary.

This is going to be a fretless bass with cocobolo neck/fretboard and a one piece maple burl top (not pictured). Not sure what body wood to go with yet. Likely something heavy since I know the neck will be.

This is what my bass looks like:

And this is my new and improved design:

Unfortunately I can't get started for a few more weeks (moving) but I can dream about it all day til I can.

Personally...I like your old design better though I'd less exaggerate both the upper and lower horns so they don't stick out and tuck in as far as they do. I like the thinness and elegance of them compared to the new idea. Just my two cents.

I like the old design better, too. But it's not my axe, so go for it, man!

I have to agree. On the "old", the treble horn looks much more "related" & just a scaled back version of the bass side. On the new, there seems little synergy between the two. (I also think the bass horn definitely needs to taper like the old, but unlike the new). IMO

I always thought the original design was not very elegant, but kind of trying to be in a way. Never liked the upper horn, thought it was too jagged or something. I thought that all the curves I added made it more elegant, but that's only my opinion. Plus it's a different vibe. The first one has kind of an intense, metal kind of vibe, but the new one is a little more funky/classy/non-denominational. The edges aren't perfectly cleared up, it's photoshopped from a drawing, but I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going with, only other thing to change will be the headstock.

Appreciate the comments though, kind of what I expected, but I'm not at all discouraged. I still think it looks way better than the original.

Also, there might have been some confusion, judging by Stuarts comment. The first one is not my design, it's Cort's Curbow bass. I'm trying to improve on the design, which I like, but feel could be a lot better. All subjective of course.
