Hi Fellows, Well, I'm almost finished with my fourth build and I am planning my next one. I will use Chinaberry variety of Mahogany because it's very resonant and cheap down here. It's a fairly light weight wood. I guess the big issue will be balance and weight. I want to make an ES-335 size body tapered thin towards the edges. I could create a 3-D model to locate the center of gravity, but that will take a while. I also thought of blocking out the body, neck, and headstock to get a feel for balance. The planks I have have bought have bands of hard grain alternating with soft grain. Edge sanding is near impossible, so I'll band the edges with some hardwood. I'm not sure I really have a question at this point, but I welcome all suggestions during the planning stage. Funny, I thought I could stop building after the first, but I am totally hooked now. |

You can never build just one. |
