I love the body shape, and I know many are fine with 6 on a side tuners, but I am not one of them. I like your LP shape on your site as well. Great work.

Thanks Rob. This one's gonna have to be 6 in line due to the parts I'll be working from. Haven't actually done a 3X3 yet but I'd like to.

I like the headstock. The top horn seems to stick out pretty far, but if you can reach around it, it will look nice. I see you have already started taping off the fretboard - joking.
What woods will you use?

Looks like a Strat top, Jaguar bottom to me.
Switch locations wouldn't work for me.
Output jack wouldn't either.

Tuner locations- quality of tuner is what's important. In-line or not
doesn't matter to me.

I think the upper bout is a little too long. I would shorten it so it ends in line with the 15th fret. It looks too much like a balloon as it is and I don't think it fits with the rest of the body.

What are those oval thingies on the pickguard?

I used to be a Strat (tm) lover.

I would really reconsider the placement of that output jack. Imagine the guitar cord coming out of that thing - and if you tuck the cord behind your stop button the cord will be running across the face of the guitar.

Thing is that when all the electronics are on the pickguard,
much easier to wire!

The output jack is there because this design is originally based off the Fender Jaguar. I may put it on the side of the guitar instead. But like Alan said, much easier to wire this way, and I'm planning on building quite a few of these.

Appreciate all the critiques. The only part that is actually taken from a Fender guitar is the lower horn from a Jaguar. The rest was drawn on paper and photoshopped trying to stay relatively close to scale.

dzsmith and John Sonksen: The upper horn might be too big and I might make it smaller. I want to see what it looks like on a full size template first. As of right now I think it's gonna work pretty well the way it is, but I definitely need to see what it looks like with somebody playing it. You might be right.

Sandywood: I think the switches might be a little close to the strings as it is right now, but I'm probably gonna rework the pickguard to hug the contours a little closer. Could you elaborate on why the switching wouldn't work for you?

Alan: The ovals closest to the upper horn? That's the selector switch. The ovals were masterfully designed in photoshop, that's why they look so nice.

Woods I will use: Alder body, Rock Maple neck, Indian Rosewood board.

I don't mind the type of switches or the toggle- it's the location. I've never cared for controls at the top of the body.
It is so much easier to use them on the lower bout. With them being in the strumming field (top or bottom) is just
not for me. Much like a Strats volume...being in the way BUT for a good reason. No reason for switches to be that close.
It takes very little time to throw them when they are located in the bottom part of the body. The fingers not holding a pick
easily have control. Naturally I'm sure that there are those that feel it's not a problem for them with the switches located on the top but
in the path of strumming too? Not for me.

I don't like mentioning a problem without at least offering a solution for consideration- keep them together (top or bottom) out of the
strumming path and away from the toggle. I question away from the toggle as I think it's an appearance thing...I'd have to see...all the
switches on the bottom and the toggle on the top horn / all switches on top and toggle at the bottom horn.

I know you didn't ask me but I'd move that output jack no matter how much work it took. I'd probably look at a Strat type but facing
the strap pin..plug in pushing down. -chord angled at pin for strap to hold...and much closer to it.

I like the concept. IMO, I think it would look better if the upper horn were smaller.

As a purely practical matter there's a lot of stuff in the way of playing... all your switches and knobs would tear my right hand to shreds upon any kind of aggressive playing.

I like the upper horn. I think they maybe right that it looks a little long. but i think thats great. tired of seeing the same old design over and over. if its well balanced then go for it. i think most musicians like it when things look different. then again maybe i have no idea what I'm talking about.

I think that's the reply I was hoping for. I really don't want to change the shape, unless it ends up being hideous in actual form, but I'll probably make most or all of the other suggested changes.
