So, this piano was constructed a little differently than I thought it would be. I had no idea how small the joined pieces were underneath the veneers. I am trying to upload pictures but no matter what I do it doesn't seem to want to accept the pictures I try to upload!

We got the piano apart, and now i just want to remove the posts from the back of the harp (great for neck blanks). could someone help me with my picture issues?

So you are salvaging wood from a piano? That's cool. I had been thinking about that for a while. There are always adds on craigslist here for free piano (or organ) you haul" around here. It seems that the organs built after 1970-ish are mostly veneer over particle board, but I have a 60's Conn organ in my studio that hasn't been played for years honestly, and it is solid mahogany and maple, many parts are 6/4. Honestly it has a great vintage sound on some settings, but I always just play my Yamaha on recordings. Unless it's a Moog, or a Hamond B3 or something, sad but true, there is not much use for these anymore. Certainly no monetary value..... My biggest issue with this is tearing apart a perfectly good instrument of any kind (sniff ) but morally, if it goes to building another instrument, well, heck yeah. I think it's better than letting it sit un-played for years, right?

Maybe a little off topic, but mine is FILLED with vintage tubes, some of which are worth a lot these days. Certainly I could experiment with my own guitar amps?

Its a PC... I think I may have figured out the problem! I'm gonna try this again....

He had a little fun with the harp haha. We used a railtie lifter and bashed the heck out of the thing. There's still some more wood on the back that may be useful, but I need a saw, and haven't got a single one haha.

Did you save the keys?
I still have a box of old ivory and ebony from a piano I dissected back in the late 70's.
If you don't use the wood for instruments, it works for tools, jigs, etc.

the keys were just wood with resin on top... worthless. But, in the past couple hours we got a bunch more done, and we're more or less finished with the piano. I'll have some more pictures soon, once I charge my camera.

I did that once. My bro-in-law had a green one to get rid of. I sanded part of the paint off and got all excited at the newly found wood. It ended up being veneered with poplar that was dovetailed throughout. Used a lot of it for jigs, etc, but no guitar wood to speak of. Pain in the nuisance to get rid of the harp.

Don't get rid of the harp!
Play it like a harp with a heavy pick.

Oh man... I would not want to try to tune that thing!
