Hi! As the title says, can I use rabbit skin glue or bone glue (or mixture of both) for a neck joint? Or else, which of the two would be better? I know that HHG is preffered, but all I could find here were those two, and I bought them from a painters' supply shop. Thanks!

Both are HHG...
We just usually find them pre-mixed.

Personally, I use titebond 1 on fretboards (to allow for removal in the future) and titebond 3 on everything else. Titebond 3 might be a little overkill but I like to make sure that I wont have any glue-joints breaking in the decades ahead. I poked areound a bit and I found this stuff on stewmac if your interested in hide glues http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Glues,_adhe ... _Glue.html

Absolutely do not use the Franklin liquid hide glue for a guitar. Absolutely horrible stuff, does not hold under pressure. I built two guitars with this stuff and had to rebuild them both because the glue did not hold. I did a little bit of research and found that no body uses it. Normal hide glue is fine, but not the stuff from the link to Stewmac. I can't believe they are selling that stuff.

I used the franklin hide glue on my set neck telecaster and have not had a problem with it. I have read however you need to get a bottle that was made less than 9 months ago.
