Hey, whatever works. I don't use a knot, and I never have any tuning problems, and removing the old strings is a snap.

It'll come in handy I'm sure, some guys request the knot. I've just never done it, maybe now I will. Thanx for sharing1

Been doing that for a while on all my guitars. No slip stringing and helps them to stay in tune. It locks the string in place preventing tuning problems no matter how hard I bend.

Franl ford's frets.net suggests the same way. I've been doing it like that for ever!
