Does anyone know of a source for low cost($40 or under) 5 string bass bridges? I'd like to build a fiver, but refuse to spend $60-$110 for a 5 string bridge. I'd prefer something that looked similar to the standard Fender style 4 string bridge(no hi-mass). Thanks, all.

It could be worse Mike just be thankful you don't need individual bridges for a 7 or 8 string, some of their prices are extortion!!!

No doubt! The fivers are expensive enough for me. But I have a friend who has been watching my work who is a bass player. He's been asking if I could build a 5 string. I've also looked around my area, and there are a lot more 5vers here than 4 strings. Think I at least better try my hand at a 5ver soon. Thanks, everyone.

I play 5 stringers myself. They're more versatile, and if you don't need the "extra" string for a song, just don't play it.
Rmember to offset the bridge to account for the B string thickness. If the center of the string saddles lines up with the center of the neck, the strings will look off center, due to the B-string being .130 (usually) and the G-string being .045 in thicknesses.

Cool! Thanks for the tip!
