Post subject:  Moisture content for neck woods

Hi all

Can someone let me know what is the best moisture content a neck wood should be, i have some walnut and would like to use it as a Fender style neck with a concealed truss rod under either rosewood or a walnut fret board..

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

Jeremy, the answer depends on the RH of the environment you're building in.
If the RH is 45% then the moisture content of the wood should be 8%, A RH of 55% the wood should be 10%. As the RH moves around so does the wood as it's trying to seek equilbrium with the environment.
I'd recommend getting your hands on Bruce Hoadley's, Understanding Wood. You could probably get it at your local library.
