I had a build thread here a while ago, and got into building another 5 gits, so it went on hold.
Also, just moved, which took up a lot of my time.
Anyway......
Walnut top, given to me, redwood neck and body wood, given to me, spline neck joint, my design
emg H4A, F.B. pickup, H4 bridge pickup.
Bloodwood bindings I made from some bloodwood I got from Mount Storm hardwoods in Windsor CA,
a Bocote fretboard I bought from LMI, when you could still go in there and look at stuff,
pots and sundry electronics from Mojo electronics, ( Fender Amp Field Guide),
Gotoh 510 tuners, $20 bucks!
Thanks Todd!
He was eliminating selling tuners, so I lucked out there!
Anyway, 1 vol, 1 tone, push pull pots, with a 3 way switch.
My current favorite set-up.
Humbuckers, plus twangy single coil sound.
Oh, this is a squareneck lap-steel by the way.
I didn't do a great finish on it, because it be for me,
and it will get bumped around a lot.
General Finish wipe on poly, which I should have put another 6 coats on, but I didn't.
EMG pickups are the best, IMO.
Exact sounds I was after!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bobby!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Steve, thanks David!!

Sweet little lap steel! Good job! I've been contemplating branching out into another instrument other than guitar or bass to build. I play Gospel and CCM. I think a lap steel might be just the thing for the old traditional and Southern Gospel. Of course, I would have to learn how to play it.......... eek

Um.....hate to nitpick...but you forgot the frets, bud. :)

Looks like that came together very nicely, Alan.

Love the walnut top on that. Did you know the Alembic tailpiece has a similar design? Regardless, it looks good.

Got a question: Is there standard tuning for laps?

Thanks, all.
Zlurgh, there is no standard tuning for slide, but more popular ones.
Open E, open D, and G are the most popular.
Then you can put the 9th on top, (E on the 1st string, instead of a D, when tuned to open D for instance)
and get a whole new sound going.
Anything goes.
I have to play lap only,
because of my arthritic wrist.
57 years old, and the cartilage be there no mo.
Ouch.
