Post subject:  Hello!

New to the forum.

Having built a handfull of guitars, and basses back in the 80's, (being a diemaker and woodworker by trade) decided to start building again.

Been building carbonfibre racing cycles for about three years now. So decided on semi-hollowbody 335-ish style. Also had a maple/walnut/mahogony body blank sitting around so I made a bass out of that. I love having matching 4 and 6 stringed sets.

Only built one set of necks on a double-neck guitar over bass and remember thinking it took so long. I had a Rick 4001 bass to profile the neck shape and borrowed a Les Paul for the guitar. If I knew then what I know now gaah . Bass neck felt just like my Ric and the guitar, well, let's just say I was not aware in my 20's that there were soo many neck profiles. Must have been a jumbo neck on the LP cause I hated it and promptly sold it.
Not seeing the link to post pics but, here goes.

That seemed to have worked. Not all that computer savy.
Bass is finished with EMG active pups and turned out well for the short time I spent on it.
Guitar sounds great unwired. Will be installing elecs. this weekend. So, we'll see.

First pic is not showing up each time?

Thanks for all the inspirational stuff from the other builders.
Noticed there aren't many carbon electrics.
Hope there are not any good reasons for this :?:

There is a silver carbon (aluminized glass) pickup mount and back covers on the bass now. So you see silver through the cutouts. Not really sound holes on the bass. Just trying to lighten it up.
All my bass builds are way to heavy. Great tone but no fun to play for more than a song or two.
This one still feels about the same as my J bass.

I'll agree to like you if you make carbon fiber inlays for me, for free. bliss
