Hey guys. I'm working on a guitar and would like to wire it with independent volumes for each pickup, and a master tone control. No selector switch. I realized recently that i almost never use the selector switch, as I prefer both humbuckers wide open. I usually adjust the pickup height until I get the tone I like(kind of like blending the pickups together by adjusting their volume so that you get the right amount of the sound of each pickup in the mix). I'm not the kind of player that chases the tone of this or that player. I prefer to find my own tone, and use that. But recently I've started to realize that if I had a seperate volume and then a master tone, or 2 vol/2 tone, I could get more versatility and I really don't need (or want)a switch.
However, I've never wired a two pickup guitar without a switch. Can someone direct me to a diagram (please, no schematics) that will show me how to do this? I've reviewed the usual places(SD Baselines, StewMac, etc) and can't find what I need.

I remember seeing a wiring diagram for doing this on a les paul.
It was on my paperwork for GFS pickups.
Essentially you switched 2 of the wires on the volume pot (hot from pickup and out to switch, ground stays where it is) and the volumes no longer interact like they normally would....
I belive i threw out my gfs paperwork tho...
hopefully someone has a copy they can post or GFS may be able to email you something....
Then you just need to modify the diagram for 1 tone and your set....

I dont know what you meant by diagrams and no schematics
I may have this all jacked up, I am in class right now and trying to get this done for you instead of paying attention, I am sure someone who is much better at wiring than I will come along and help.
If it isnt right, the thought was there at least.

did someone say jazz bass?

I did similar to this on a strat.

only with mini h/bs.....

each volume had a push on push off switch that operated a coil split for the pup the volume controlled.

then I added a piezo bridge......
