Post subject: | Scale length help |
I am building my first guitar and I have read quite a bit on scale length, but am still a bit confused. I do understand that I need to measure from the face of the nut and mark the body at 25.5 inches for the guitar I'm building. My biggest issue is where I need to put the bridge in regards to that scale line. Since the saddles are offset to each other I have no idea which point on the bridge to measure the 25.5 inches to. Please help !!! |

This is what I do. Adjust the high e string saddle on whatever bridge you are using forward(toward the nut) until you are just two or three turns from the end of the adjustment screw's travel. Position your bridge on the guitar so that your scale length measures from the fretboard side of the nut to where the string breaks over that saddle. This is where you mount the bridge. All the other saddles will get adjusted back from there when you go to set up and intonate the guitar. |
