http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0XZqWndJ9A Hello, I just bough a bass for a really good price. But the guitar has an extremely high action, it seems like the neck has been reinstalled... and the BIGGEST problem is the serious fret buzz on first fret. The guitar would play fine from open string till the end except for the first fret. I put on 3 layers of masking tape on and it's finally making a sound. I suspect the first fret may be worn out. Looking at how how the action is and the way the nut is installed, I suspect there may be other ways to fix this? Thank you in advance =) [img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5294/5457213292_47fe7d1095.jpg[img][/img][/img] |

if the fret is worn down and its not the neck bowing or something then i would probably just pull the fret and put in a new one. shouldnt be to hard. pull the original fret get some radiused peices of fretwire and put a new peice in. since its only on the first fret all you will need to do is make sure that the strings coming over the nut clear it and dont buzz, if they do just file that first fret down a little at a time till they dont buzz anymore. if you are lucky and the strings clear it right off the bat then just leave it alone, since its the first fret it really doesnt matter if its a little bit higher than all the others. |
