This isn't about building, but it seemed like the best place to post it.

My 11 year old son and I are about to start building an Ashbory bass, and I'm looking for recommendations on an amp. Cheap and small would be good, though I guess that's kind of an oxymoron for bass amps. I'm hoping for something that he won't be able to blow us out of the house with. :D

Roland Cube. There's 20, 30, 60 watts.

The Roland Cube is a good recommendation for what you are looking for. Hard to beat. I'll second the recommendation.

Hey Pat,

I have a Gallien Krueger Backline 600 amp and a 4-10 cabinet that I might sell. I bought it new and barely used it. It may be more than you wanted to spend but if you want to consider it I'll come up with a price for it. I'm certain this amp would carry him a ways into the future. It's a nice setup.

I've got a little 15 watt line 6 I'm learning to play bass with. Sounds OK to me but I don't really know what good bass is supposed to sound like so.......Definately not loud enough to take the roof off. Pretty cheap too.
