It is time for me route out locations for my pups. How do you guys choose where they go? I have searched around and get "nothing found" or "how I can replace an already existing pup". I have Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound units. Jazz bridge and a P for the neck. There has got be a good way to find this out. Espically since a P/J set up is so common. Thanks Richard |

Not sure. I know that pup location varied with the year(at least the bridge) on the Jazz bass. you might ask in the pup and electronics section of Talkbass forums. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=45 I know this has been discussed there several times before, so you should be able to get your answer throught either a post or a seach. Edited to add: This post may give you your answer. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=686362&highlight=jazz+pickup+location |

Build a mono-string board. It's easy and quick to do. 1 tuner, a nut and a saddle on a board, at the right scale. Wire a free pick up that you can move under the string all over the string. You can clearly ear the difference of pick up placement. That's how Leo Fender did. You can find the exact sound you want then. |
