I am dropping some 500k audio and linear Bourn pots in my LP build. These square plastic jobs look much different than the round pots in my 57R. I have found plenty of schematics on the internet on how to wire a LP, but all show the round pots like those in my 57R. Prior to soldering any wires, I need some help in determining which pins on the Bourn pots compare to those on the round pots seen in the schematics. My Bourn pots have the pins number 1, 2, and 3. As I rotate the pot clockwise, pin 2 disconnects from pin 1 and engages with pin 3. I assume the middle pin of the round pot is the same as the Bourn 2 pin, but I am not sure about 1 and 3. When viewed from the back with the pins at the top, which pins would be comparable to pins 1 and 3 on the Bourn pots?

Okay, I have found a few articles that lead me to believe the pin in the upper left of the image shown would be equivalent to pin 1 on my Bourns pot. For volume, it appears that the input terminal that is engaged when the pot is turned all the way counter clockwise should be grounded. As this is pin 1 on my Bourns pot, I think I am good to go.

If you have an ohmeter,
you can put one lead on the outside lug,
one lead on the middle lug,
read the resistance when you turn the shaft,
the direction you turn will tell you which is full on, or full off.
Full on is zero ohms,
off is 500k ohms.
The outer lugs are just for your choice of direction of on-off.
