Hey guys, I'm in the finish stages of my first scratch build. It's a set neck, so I'm finishing it as a complete instrument, instead of finishing the neck and body seperately. I used a couple of coats of shellac, followed by a white base coat. I plan to follow that with a color coat. I plan to paint the neck and body the same color. I've already got a white base coat. My question is this: If I follow coat of white with a color coat, when I remove the masking tape to apply clear coats(I'll remask the fretboard closer to the edges of the frets, as I like to clearcoat the sides of the fretboard) will I see a white line on the edge of the neck where the color coat meets the fretboard? Also ,suggestions to avoid this requested. Thanks a lot.

Yes, you will probably be able to see a very very thin white line. Most folks probably won't notice it. If you want to avoid this, move your masking tape back 1/64" so that your color coat overlaps the the edge of the white base coat.
