I found 4'x8' sheets of styrene plastic at a local plastics supplier here in Nashville - white .080" @ 24.00 and both white and black .020" @ 6.50 ea. - I think this stuff will work as a VERY cost effective alt. to buying pre - cut binding strips - it seems to have similar properties as the stuff stewmac sells. I plan to cut the strips myself and bind a couple guitars - I'll let you know what happens with this stuff.

Nope. one 24" is too short for most guitars it takes 30" or slightly more to reach 1/2 way around a mid to full sized acoustic guitar and second styrene plastic will chemicaly melt big when exposeed to some solvents. You really want ABS

Yeah I have to see what happens under lacquer with this stuff - I'm going to do a test piece later today - It's long enough though - 48"x96"
