Hi folks, When my wife and I met Paul and his son William on a Saturday morning in his river house close to Annapolis, we had obviously done our homework well. On our never ending quest on the secrets of tone, we asked him a bunch of questions which undoubtedly went into the right direction. How much impact has the choice of glue, the way a guitar is built with or without stress, the chosen tone woods, the type of truss-rod and the way it is inserted, the drying process of the tone wood and the type of finish have on the final tonal properties of a fine instrument? Paul told us more than he probably originally intended. Reading between the lines is sometimes more educating than the lines by themselves. We were grateful for every little piece of information we received and will continue our never ending quest. Enjoy! absolutely.... But - he "made" it, and makes some pretty beautiful stuff...That being said, if I ever "make" it anywhere, I hope that I can encourage and build other builders up more than tuck my secrets and lessons away. Stephen |

Paul is an interesting guy. He's probably the best guitar salesperson in the world...and in my opinion is an absolute marketing genius! He has a lot of talented people working for him, particularly in the private stock area (but also in the regular shop as well!). |

I think you meant to say "ab-so-LUTE-ly" After watching it, the one thing that stands out as a bit annoying (to me at least) is that when the camera shot shifts between each of 3 angles, he talks directly into the camera rather than to the interviewer. Watch the kid at 1:30... |

I was suprised at how he admitted how much he didn't know. His design is probably the #2 or #3 most copied electric guitar design ever. I forgive him if he holds a few discoveries private. |

I will be meeting Paul in a couple weeks at the Tony McManus guitar weekend up in Elora Ontario where he will be Tony's guest Luthier. Tony has had a Luthier visit each year with Mark Beneteau, two years ago and Linda Manzer last year. My questions to Paul will be more acoustic guitar related and am looking forward to meeting him. Tony is in the PRS acoustic ads in Acoustic guitar Magazine and is a top Celtic Guitarist, if you are not familiar with who he is. Fred |

I'm pretty familiar with the PRS acoustics; I did a lot of work on "digitizing" the design as well as designing their manufacturing process & jigs when I was there. You guys should definitely play them if you get a chance, they are probably some of the best sounding guitars out there in my opinion. |
