I don't know any high quality kits, but you might check here: http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10123&t=23474

The only other option I can think of is a body and neck from Warmoth. Their stuff is good quality.

It's a bolt on neck and 25.5" scale, however. But if you talked to them, you might get them to make you what you want, but I'm sure it'll cost you.

They do offer 24.75" scale conversion necks that work with their standard 25.5" bodies.

Indeed they do. I had forgotten about that.

I hear the stew mac '59 LP plans are a good bet. Haven't seen them myself, so I can't personally comment. There's a lot of good electric builders over on projectguitar.com. That's where I started my research.

Filippo...I used the StewMac plans and found them to be excellent on mine of several years ago.

In addition, I'll try to find some online resources that were helpful to me. Here are a few to check out for now:

This is a fun project...good luck to you and your son!

I do have a set of the stew mac plans laying around. I never gotta around to build one. The plans are very good i have to say. Mine are of a early 50's model with P-90 pickups though. They don't sell that one anymore. Since i own a nice gibson cherry sunburst flame top which is my main guitar i fugured why build one? What i am planing on building is a Gibson SG style guitar. I had one years ago and sold it like a dope. I have dreaded that for the past twenty years.
