Well, Duh! You just gotta make it the same colour as a real Marlin! Try and get some of that iridescence, too.

A nice transparent blueburst, same color varying density, would be good.

Chris,
Such a subjective question. beehive

I see a Black Burst with Deep Trans Red in the fields. some Black sand back first though just to pop the grain. Gold hardware would look nice with it. bliss

Actually, that looks pretty cool. If you've ever looked at the ocean from above, it looks alot like that, with variations of colors and shades. MHO.

Chris,
That's where shellac comes in handy for maple. Washcoat to stop blotching and then use it with your dye to control the color. I know you have heard me preach it, sometime you might try it. Otherwise I think your choice is nice and REALLY it looks very nice as is and with some toners will be very controllable. Good luck my friend,

Mike

Chris, it looks great. The one ocean burst I did took me 4 or 5 tries to get right. I like to mix some shellac in with the dye coats though. Makes it a lot easier for me.

I thought it looked really nice, but understand why you had to sand it back. I can't wait to see the end result. [:Y:]

That looks good. Sanding it back and redoing it really added some depth. That is going to look sharp when you get it buffed out. Good job!
