So I've got the scarf joint set and am ready to route the channel for the trussrod, which I have yet to order. the length of the neck from the butt of the nut to where the guitar will meet the body is 15 1/4", my question is how long of a trussrod will I need to make this work? All help is appreciated. Thank you!

Andrew,

generally, you just order a truss rood to the type of guitar you are building. For example, even though I use a high neck to body joint on a singlecut bass (almost at the 12th fret), I still use a full bass truss rod. Where the neck is joined to the body, it is fully constrained, but where it is free, it is free and will operate accordingly.

Stephen

Ok, thank you. That makes sense, though I think I am going to set this neck aside and maybe use for a cg build later on. I decided that it was to short after comparing to the body template.
