If you want to be the first to make a guitar with veneered sides, we'll have to race.
I have two that I am working on that have veneered sides. It seems that we are working for a different final product though, the goal of mine is not to cover the tone wood, but I am trying to get multiple, decorative layers. I am building from ash and Padauk, and using lacewood, maple, and Padauk, as veneer on one guitar, and the other is an ash body layered with cocobolo and maple.I have been having a difficult time with this part of the build, and it seems like you are much more experienced with this kind of thing than I am (These two will be my 3rd and 4th). If you are willing to share some of your methods, I would greatly appreciate it. I have tried a couple of different glues and clamping methods, with inconsistent results, but although it has been an arduous process, I think I will be able to get a good final result. I am looking forward to seeing your finished guitar, it seems that you are much more skilled at this than I am, nice work.
