Ok, probably a stupid question, but what's the general view on using veneer on a fret board?
It's just that I've got a really nice piece that would just about fit, and not nearly big enough to do a body.
I know the fretboard'll have to be shaped and everything first, and sized to allow for the veneer, but on the surface (excuse the pun :D ), I can't see a problem.
Anyone tried this, or seen it done?

The wear on a fretboard is way to harsh A veneer would never hold up.

I take your point, but how about if it was lacquered, like a Maple one? and how often is it likely that it'd be sanded down and re-finished anyway, enough to take away the veneer? Surely that would almost mean a new neck, or at least new fret board, is called for?
Or am I completely off the line here?

How about doing the headstock with it. Maybe a piece over a base wood for a pick guard.

Yep, that's an idea. It's too nice a piece not to use.
