Hi Folks, Firstly, let me say this is a great forum! I've lurked here for some while now, and although I've never posted, I've always been impressed by the friendly nature of the forum and the wonderful way that experienced experts are willing to help with questions. I'm now getting to the finishing stages of an electric guitar and I'd like to use Tru-oil as the finish. I like the idea of using West Systems epoxy for grainfilling, but I'm not sure if it provides a suitable basis for the Tru-oil. Does anyone have experience of this? Any thoughts or advice? I've searched the archive, but in vain. Also, I'm trying to get the grain to really pop on a quilted maple top - any thoughts on how to do that? Many thanks in advance Ant |

Yes Tru-oil is fine over an epoxy porefill. But if you're worried about it you can always put a wash coat of shellac over the epoxy before using the tru-oil, but it really isn't needed. Colin |

Colin, many thanks for the response. I thought that was probably the case, but hadn't seen it actually stated anywhere, so it's reassuring to know. Cheers Any |
