I know i know --- this should go in the gear forum, oh wait, we dont have one --------------- yet I am thinking about picking up an old Boss HR-2 Harmonist Effect Pedal. Attachment: 7db2_2.JPG Ive never had one, or any harmonizer for that matter. My question is, do they work as advertised. Are they fairly simple to utilize in the real world or are they more of a gadget that needs to be tweaked for each and every solo? Do you need to have a degree in music theory to understand how to use them? Thanks! |

I've never used one either, but if you find an interval that you like for solos, I bet you could leave it. YouTube probably has a few demos. I spend HOURS watching demos on YouTube. Sigh... |

It's been about 12 years since I've used one (that same one, I believe), but I remember it working pretty well. You need to change the key setting to whatever key you're playing in, unless you have it set to a fixed interval. I think it works well with a mic run through it too. |

Lance, I'd suspect it would sound ok with an electric rig but it may not replicate an acoustic real well. Also, maybe plan on having it up where you can see it to change settings live etc.. Let us know. |
