I really like the look (and price) of that Ecxelsior...Anyone know if it would be an easy mod to put a Rev tank in it?

Dan,
The heavy distortion sounds are not the style I play,so those settings don't thrill me... But, I wouldn't be playing through distortion pedals on my regular rig for playing with a band, which is a Peavy Classic 30. I like a little edge or color in my tone but not the heavy distortion - I know some guys like that...

What I like about the THR10 is that you can get a very nice tone, either clean or with some harmonic distortion. Granted, it is a simulation - but a very good one. I find it to be very inspiring to play through. I like to practice with backing tracks from youtube. When you run the output from your laptop or ipod into the aux and play along, you sound as if you are in the mix. Add a little reverb and you will be surprised at the sound. You can get the type of tone you would get at high volume from your full-size amp, at a lower volume.

It has worked very well playing with my buddies on acoustic guitar because I don't overpower them. Before I got the THR10, I would use my Peavy Classic 30 with the acoustics at a very low volume and I was never satisfied with the sound. Now I can get some nice tone at the lower volume level. BTW - I've plugged my acoustic into it and it sounds nice with that too. Take some time an mess around with it... I think you'll get to like it. Make small adjustments. I love mine and I'm glad I got it...
Steve

Hey Steve,
I just finished my 4th build today. I installed two overwound humbuckers with coil taps.
That teeny little amp really sounds great with this guitar!
The last guitar I built with power rails and it sounded pretty harsh, so I prematurely judged the amp based on that. My next build will have classic humbuckers.
I plugged my Ipod into and played along, it was amazing.
I installed the software and plugged it into my laptop and was able to do some fine tweaking.
I'm liking this little amp more and more.
One of my favorite features is the wife (headphone) jack!
Dan
