Looking back at the "hate soldering" thread, it brought to mind some of my own issues, primarily, not having enough hands.

What do you all tend to use to help out and act as a third and sometimes fourth hand? Just alligator type clips, or the stations with flexible arms with clamps, magnifying glass and lights, etc.? Something else?

I would love some input as I imagine many of us novices have this issue.

Thanks in advance.

I got pretty decent with using my fingers in pairs to hold two wires, the iron, and the solder all at once...but I was a fool...these things are the effing business:

Get a couple extra arms for it, it's even better with four.

I use one of these...

Availible from most craft/model/hobby type shop/store for around a tenner. Has an iron holder and the magnifying glass comes in handy.

I have one similar to Brian's without the soldering iron holder. I first got it to hold the turret board in an amp building project, but now use it for all kinds of stuff. I got it from Harbor Freight for around $3. It is another one of those HF good buys.

Thanks guys, I think these look exactly like what I'm looking for. Might even get one of each to see which works better for me or which applications they are more suited to.
