I have been wanting to work with some black limba for a while but it is some tricky stuff to source out though. I really want to get something with some good mineral streaking, but it seems to be some pretty tough stuff to source out. None of my local guys have ever even heard of it seems, and I check gilmer wood from time to time, but any of the decent blanks are always marked as sold, and there is usually not that much there anyway. I dont have any immediate use for it, I would really just like to find out where to get it when the time comes. I'd like to find some with nice dark mineral streaking, none of that plain white stuff. Anyone have suggestions?

I can look next time I'm at my local if you give me a budget and list of requirements. He's usually got some nice 8/4.

Chris I dont know that I am ready to buy anything right now, I am just trying to get an idea of what is out there. I've got to many project to worry about it right now, but when I'm ready to do what I want I may shoot you a pm.

Also on a side note, I finally got to sort through that fir that you asked about, and unfortunetly probably 95% of it was to far gone to use. My uncle did a terrible job of stacking it and left it outside, so it was just a mess. I got a few boards out of it but I'm really not sure how much of what I took is going to be useable. I"ll have to let it dry out and see whats good and whats trash.

I've gotten mine, in the past, from these guys:
http://crosscuthardwoods.com/index.php? ... cts_id=474

I was in there about a week or two ago and think they had some, but it was all 4/4 and rather plain-looking. They do ship, but don't think you can see the actual boards you're buying, unlike Gilmer, or theses folks below.

Another Oregon source would be:
http://www.cookwoods.com/lumber-site/sh ... es/korina/

I snagged a 8/4 board from Crosscut a few years back, just to have in the stash. It does seem that the stuff I've seen lately doesn't have as much of the attractive streaks of gold and brown.
